Taylor then designed the D-1 glider, so small and light that Piper's son noted You just put it on.

Description:

William Piper asked C. G. Taylor to build an airplane smaller and lighter than the Chummy, Taylor's failed venture. Taylor first designed the D-1 Glider, which had a steel tube frame, lightweight wings, and a tailskid. Taylor and Piper pulled it behind a car to flight test it, while Piper's son Tony noted about its size, “You just put it on.”
