Short Caption:

Unable to make it across the United States in April 1923, Macready and Kelly set a world endurance record in the T-2 instead.

Description:

Macready and Kelly attempted their transcontinental flight twice, starting from San Diego, but failed. In April 1923 after their second attempt, they set a world endurance record in the T-2 over McCook Field, Dayton, Ohio. Here, they stand with Orville Wright after their 36-hour flight, a record that earned them the Mackay Trophy.
